FAQ
Master Teachers
“When can I hold my Participant Teacher training?”
This question is the perfect opportunity for the Master Teacher to work with their LEA to schedule training sessions that will fit in with your administration’s professional development plan. A great possibility is to work with this teacher around some possible dates and once it is secured, advertise it district or city wide for Participant Teachers to sign up. Many Master Teachers have their own ideas about when they would like to do their training (after school, a series of Saturdays, and summer vacation months). LEAs can benefit from knowing when this training will take place to make sure that as many district personnel can attend as possible.
In most cases, professional development points can be awarded to Participant Teachers who take part in these trainings. Work with your district Professional Development Coordinator to be able to offer inservice points to your Participant Teachers.
“Can Participant Teachers that I train apply for graduate credit?”
Both types of learners, those at the Master Teacher level as well as those at the Participant Teacher level, are eligible to submit their work for the graduate credit option. For additional details, see the Graduate Credit folder under Resources on this site.
“Can I team teach with another Master Teacher?”
The answer is yes, Master Teachers are welcome to co-teach with a fellow MT! Just be sure that each Master Teacher registers the class (and closes the class) on the Extranet. For every one Master Teacher, they must train their own 10. If two were to teach together, they will either have one group of twenty, or teach two groups of 10. One Master Teacher could order all the materials for the course, but the Participant Teacher evaluations should be split between the two Master Teachers.
